Speed: the site must appear as quickly as possible, regardless of browser or internet connection. People hate waiting for a site to load, and their mouse hovers always on the "back" button.

Simplicity: authorship of websites requires brevity and exactness in selection of words. Such writing is seldom quick or easy. It is always more like poetry than prose.

Clarity: say what you need to say clearly, in simple words of no more than two syllables. Pages must be clean and contain much more white space than words. Images and backgrounds must not confuse the message.
