North Twin Island

Don't even think of stopping at North Twin Island. You aren't welcome there.

Well that isn't entirely true.

But considering the pristine nature of this island, the fact that there is no camping allowed, no dock, and the place is very overgrown with underbrush - well why bother.

I'm told that there are cleats embedded in the rock ledges near the NW tip, so one could tie up there in a small boat. But let's face it, you are on the edge of the open lake here and it would not be a fun place to be if a wind from any northerly direction came up

Besides, there are rare plants here that a fool could do damage to. The island was never logged you couldn't possibly appreciate its' present condition.

And really, there are some islands that are much more fun to sail around than go hiking in.

The "cabin" belonged to the Congdon family. Yep, the Duluth Congdons who built the "home" they wanted on a few acres of Lake Superior shore and called the place Glensheen.

Let's keep on sailing. Devils Island is our next stop.
