Winter Greetings
                         From Bayfield, WI

December

                 January

                                February

Our quiet time.

A time when it's not unusual to see
vehicles stopped side by side in the
middle of main street as the drivers converse.

When the word "adventure" means you drove down town for the mail, then had to wait for the sanding truck to visit before you could get back up the hill.

When the golf course view shows a single ski track, and far beyond,  steam from open water beyond Madeline Island.

When the sled dogs run.

When you may drive to Madeline Island.

When boats wait on stands, facing a frozen sea, yearning for blue water.

When the awesome Mawikwe sea caves are but a short hike across the lake ice from Meyers Beach.

When after a night of "lake effect" one steps out the door to examine fresh deer tracks before starting the chore of finding space to pile the fluffy
white stuff.

When you view the photos of a season past to recall with fondness those fine Summer days at play near our cherished Islands.

From the Sailor's Solace Guest Book

"The perfect place to stay. So much is included that the next time, and there will be a next time, we don't have to haul so much along.

Traveling light has to be good.

The peace and quiet make the stay perfect for those wanting to get away from the crowds.

Oh, it's going to be hard to go home!

The remote location of the cottage reminds me of 25 years ago when people had not discovered Bayfield yet.

With the "old" times gone comes the new. The wireless internet worked great compared to some other places we have stayed right in Bayfield.

See you again soon!"

Our Favorite Place For Entertainment

Almost 100% of the neat folks who stayed at Sailor's Solace Cottages last summer attended at least one performance at Big Top Chautauqua, a wise decision indeed. They also received a $5.00 discount for every night of their stay, which indicates how important the Big Top is to the Innkeepers.

For the 24th summer, outstanding performances
will again take place between New First Night in June
and Old Last Night in September.

It all starts just four months from now. The following shows have just been announced.

June 19 - New First Night
June 26 - Richie Havens
August 1 - Great Big Sea
August 2 - Greg Brown

More shows will be posted here next month!
