Charts & Books |
| Only one chart - #14973
- is needed to sail Chequamegon Bay and the Apostle Islands. I also keep chart #14966 on board; it will assist your voyage to Duluth should you decide to go to or come from that direction. |
Two books recommended for every sailor |
| A Visitors Guide to The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, by Dave Strzok | |
| Dave has been in the water
taxi and excursion boat business since the early 70's in the Apostles. His experience, and
his love of the region, is reflected in this book, first published in 1981 and revised in
1988. Some of what he knows about the area is in this book. I'm pleased to call Dave a friend. And he consistently surprises me with tidbits of Island lore that I haven't heard or seen before. Buy this book. Better yet buy two copies. One for the boat and another to read at home on those winter evenings when you need an "island fix." |
| The Superior Way: A
Cruising Guide to Lake Superior,
by Bonnie Dahl. |
|
| Bonnie and Ron Dahl started
sailing Lake Superior in 1974. By 1983 they had enough experience with the Upper Lake to
be able to speak with authority, and the first edition of this excellent resource was
published. If you are interested in sailing any part of Lake Superior, buy this book. The section on the Apostle Islands clearly indicates a cruisers view of the world. Where to anchor. The type of bottom your anchor will rest in. Wind conditions that may cause you to seek a different location. |
